First traces of people playing soccer was long ago in the 2nd and 3rd centuries B.C. in China. People dribbled leather balls and kicked them into small nets. The Greeks and the Romans also played for fun.

 

 

 

 

The early growth of the modern soccer started in England. In 1815, a major development took place that made soccer popular. A set of rules was made and it began to be played in major Universities and schools.  FIFA was established in the year 1904 and still exists today to help keep regulation of the sport.

 

 

 

 

Today soccer is played all around the world by many, many people. Every four years there is a World Cup where many diferent country qualify for a major competition where the top country is awarded the title as the best in the world.
